Port Madison Residence

In accordance with the owner's goals, the transformation of this beachfront home began with the creation of a new outreaching covered bridge entry.  The new entry procession proceeds past a new greenhouse, through a trellis onto the new bridge, and forms a protective enclosure to the new southwest-facing courtyard, which accommodates outdoor dining.

A new master suite was added to suit the Owner's needs.  It is adjacent to, but completely private from, the rest of the house.  The master bedroom has a fenestration composition meant to frame the sky and water scene.

Aside from a new aesthetic, the kitchen was recreated to be the hub for indoor and outdoor dining.  The revised layout and new pantry allows for a more functional space, and more efficient storage.

The existing home was essentially devoid of natural light.  Lightweight steel clerestories and two vertical dormers were added.  These, in conjunction with the transparent entry bridge, all infuse and balance the natural light throughout the entire living areas.
